October 25, 2023 was a historic day for Vernon Electric Cooperative as they cut the ribbon on their Bluff Prairie Community Solar Array in Red Mound, Wisconsin. This was a special day as the project had been in the works for nearly two years. Of the nearly 3,300 panels, 1,966 are dedicated to community solar, including 550 committed income eligible households with a high energy burden. Vernon Electric Cooperative, Couleecap and the Wisconsin Office of Energy Innovation worked tirelessly to bring community solar benefits to households that may qualify for energy assistance. This partnership created the Energize Wisconsin program. We were thrilled to have Governor Evers attend this special occasion with all of us!
